Full-Time IT SharePoint Architect

Job Description

The SharePoint Architect’s role is to strategically design and implement SharePoint solutions in support of Crown Castle’s corporate Intranet and related applications. They will collaborate closely with the SharePoint Manager, SharePoint Administrator, SharePoint Developers, Database Administrators, and System Engineers to refine conceptual system design requirements into technical designs and solutions that are consensus based, IT compliant, scalable, meet the client’s business needs, and are highly available. The SharePoint Architect is responsible for providing technical leadership to team members, defining and monitoring adherence to best practices, and evaluating and selecting all technologies within the SharePoint ecosystem that are required to meet business needs.

Essential Job Functions

Be the visionary and strategist for Crown Castle’s SharePoint operation

Define the logical, technical and physical architectures for SharePoint as an application platform that are consistent with architecture principles, standards, methodologies and Microsoft best practices

Act as thought leader to architect solutions which provide for optimal performance, scalability, high availability, recoverability and security while meeting IT compliance standards

Drive the strategy, road-map and design of SharePoint solutions within the SharePoint / Office 365 framework

Serve as the technical and functional subject matter expert for SharePoint solutions, and provide technical mentorship and guidance to team members

Produce and maintain documentation for supported systems including architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and detailed design documents

Develop and document the procedures to maintain and administer SharePoint environments, including daily monitoring, troubleshooting and performance analysis

Participate in planning and execution of tasks related to the evaluation of new SharePoint based initiatives (upgrades, third-party software and integration with Enterprise Systems).

Collaborate with Enterprise Operations’ teams on backup/recovery operations and disaster recovery testing related to the SharePoint environment

Coordinate and work closely with the SharePoint Administrator to build, administer and maintain SharePoint development, test, and production servers, including installation of service packs and updates/patches

Maintain an awareness of new and emerging .NET, SharePoint and relevant technologies, providing a detailed analysis and recommendation on capabilities and potential impact on architectural landscape

Design and implement SharePoint lists, libraries, custom forms, and data roll-ups beyond out-of-the-box

Design and develop information architecture constructs, including managed metadata, content types, site columns, among others.

Education/Certifications

High school diploma or equivalent

Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, related discipline, or equivalent technical experience

Experience/Minimum Requirements

Microsoft SharePoint subject matter expert with seven (7) years of hands-on experience implementing, configuring, customizing large enterprise wide SharePoint farms

Other Skills/Abilities

Experience deploying and supporting for SharePoint on-premises (SharePoint 2010, 2013) required and SharePoint Online / O365 is a plus

Produce and maintain documentation for supported systems including architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and detailed design documents

Experience with MetaLogix tool is a plus

Experience using continuous integration and automated deployment tools

Willingness and/or experience to drive the application of mobile technology to the information management and collaboration domain

Experience in managing multiple environments including development, test, staging and production environments

Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity planning

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users

Expert in SharePoint central and Windows server administration

Experience working in an Agile/SCRUM environment

Experience in building solutions using tools such as InfoPath and SharePoint Designer

Experience in architecting, designing, developing, integrating, and managing complex technology infrastructure solutions

Experience in designing, implementing, deploying, managing, administering, monitoring and troubleshooting Microsoft Office SharePoint implementations in both single-server and farm instances

Experience designing and developing solutions dependent on Microsoft SQL Server 2008, 2012 and 2014 (Database Services, Reporting Services, Analysis Services, Integration Services)

Proficiency with tools for SharePoint configuration and customization, including SharePoint Designer & Windows PowerShell

Experience with Dynamics CRM

A self-starter with high levels of drive, energy, resilience and a desire for professional excellence

Experience with Microsoft Azure, Office 365, Team Foundation Server, Windows Server 2008/2012/2016, SharePoint Online/2013, Visual Studio, SSRS/SSIS

Experience with virtualization technologies

Ability to lead technical SharePoint implementations and enhancements through to completion

Solid understanding of IT Infrastructure (hardware, software, data, networking).

Ability to work within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Ability to be self-directed / work independently and work in team environment as work warrants
