Job Description
Job Duties
- Provide Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 and 2010 administration, development and deployment in a new environment
- Plan and install service packs, hotfixes, updates and patches during off-peak time as required and communicate downtime to clients
- Deploy new capabilities, including web parts, features and console applications to the SharePoint Servers
- Work with a team of stakeholders to develop corporate Intranet site
- Apply limited customizations to corporate Intranet site or templates
- Implement a SharePoint backup, restore and disaster recovery plan
- Work with key stakeholders to develop a SharePoint governance plan
- Migration of SharePoint 2007 to 2010
- Provide administration and deployment of Microsoft Project Server 2010
- Configure out of the box features like Excel Services, approval workflows and InfoPath forms.
- Manage user permissions and develop appropriate lifecycle documentation to support the design and deployment
- System administration including configuration, checks and remedy off issues related to: AD Synchronization status, SQL Jobs (backup, portfolio or other scripts) Windows Task Scheduler jobs, Windows event logs reviews for error and warning; backups (SQL, template SharePoint IIS)
- Conducts proper follow-up to ensure problems are resolved; creates documentation of the correct solution
- Participates in evaluating business practices to establish systems design and implementation
- Participates with users and other IT staff to define, develop, analyze and modify databases to support applications
- Evaluates consultants’ work for adherence to standards. Evaluates responses to Requests for Proposal for technical acceptability
- Researches consultants or products and makes recommendations for contracts or purchasing
- Coordinates technical aspects of projects with consultants working on SharePoint development
- Instructs clients in use of software. Develops documentation and training materials as required
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Broad understanding of and experience in the concepts, practices and procedures for SharePoint installation and system administration
- Experience with configuration and administration of Windows Server environments, IIS, SQL Server 2005/2008, SharePoint 2007/2010, Project Server 2010
- Proven experience in information security awareness, patch management and discipline in systems administration, especially backup and restore for disaster recovery
- Working knowledge of AD synch, SSL, security, Kerberos and extending SharePoint beyond the firewall
- Proficient with content management, document management and records management within a SharePoint environment
- Experience with providing InfoPath, workflow, search and index solutions
- Working knowledge configuring and supporting SharePoint web applications, permissions, site collections, desktop application integration and web parts
- Involvement with Project Server installation and administration including resource management, leveling, and dependency tracking
- Ability to listen and articulate problems and resolution in both verbal and written form
- Ability to work as a member of a team to achieve Metro SharePoint services goals
- Ability to detect, analyze, resolve and document complicated software problems and system issues
- Ability to assist other staff members with difficult technical problems and to convey technical information to non-technical staff
- Ability to evaluate complex, enterprise-wide and department business practices to establish systems design and implementation approaches
- Ability to oversee large-scale projects and lead the project assignments of other staff
- Ability to research complex system problems and apply appropriate fixes such as program changes, data export, patches, etc.
- Ability to provide individual and group instruction on complex application concepts
- Ability to maintain positive relationships with staff and members of supported departments
